The government have announced the new statutory rates which will apply from Sunday 4 April 2021 in their annual publication of benefit and pension rates.

Statutory Sick Pay

SSP will increase from its current rate of £95.85 to a new rate of £96.35.  The new earnings threshold for eligibility (the lower earnings limit) has not yet been published, and currently stands at £120.

Statutory Maternity Pay

SMP, maternity allowance, paternity pay, shared parental pay, and adoption pay will all increase on 4 April 2021 from the current rate of £151.20 to the new rate of £151.97 (or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings if this figure is less than the statutory rate). 

Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay

Statutory Parental bereavement pay is payable to parents of a child who died on or after 6 April 2020, will also increase on 4 April 2021 from £151.20 to the new rate of £151.97.

These rates are usually increased in line with inflation, which has been low over the last year.
